Fanefane Journal is edited by a small standing committee of scholars working in architectural history, archaeology and heritage conservation. All correspondence reaches the editorial office directly, and we aim to acknowledge every message within two working days.
Editorial correspondence
Questions about a manuscript under consideration, proposals for special issues, and offers to serve as a peer reviewer should be addressed to the editorial office at . When writing about a submission already in the system, please quote the manuscript number issued on receipt — it lets us trace the file without delay.
Authors preparing a first submission are asked to read the submission guidelines before writing to us: most enquiries concern length, illustration formats and the treatment of field data, and all three are described there in detail.
Permissions and reuse
Articles are published under an open-access licence that allows reading, downloading and citation without charge. Requests to reproduce a figure, a plan or a photograph in a book, exhibition catalogue or teaching pack are handled case by case, since copyright in illustrations frequently rests with an excavation archive or a national heritage body rather than with the journal.
- Reproduction of text: cite the article, volume and issue; no separate permission is required.
- Reproduction of figures: write to the editorial office with the figure number and the intended use.
- Translation of a full article: permission is granted routinely, provided the translation is deposited with us.

Libraries and subscriptions
The journal is free to read online, and institutional libraries are welcome to add it to their catalogues and discovery systems. We supply metadata records on request and can provide a complete run of back issues for archiving purposes.
Corrections
Scholarship advances by correction. If you find an error of fact, a misattributed image or a misread inscription in anything we have published, please tell us. Substantive corrections are published as a signed note in the following issue and linked from the original article, so that the record remains transparent for readers who come to it later. Further background on our editorial practice is set out in About the Journal.
