ASSESSMENT OF TVET YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME IN BAUCHI NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT

Abstract

 

The main purpose of the study was to ascertain the success or failure of TVET youth empowerment programme in Bauchi North Senatorial District of Bauchi state. The study was guided by two objectives and two research questions. The study adopted Cross-Sectional Survey as the research design which was carried out in Seven local government area of Bauchi North Senatorial District (Katagum, Jama’are, Itas-Gadau, Zaki, Shira, Gamawa and Giade local governments). The population of the study comprises of 1400 N-Build beneficiaries under the N power programme. Out of this population, 20 beneficiaries from each of the Seven local government area of the Senatorial District were drawn making a total of 140 samples representing 10% of the population which was sampled. Cluster sampling technique was used to draw the sample for this study. Structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The data collected was analyzed using mean and standard deviation with the help of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software, version 21. The result reveals that, The N power build component of the N power programme has succeeded in training the youth in Bauchi North Senatorial District effectively on skills acquisition like plumbing, carpentry, Tiling, etc. and The N-power build component of the N-power programme which is a TVET programme was a success in Bauchi North Senatorial District of Bauchi state.
